This product has been designed for domestic use only. Any commercial use, inappropriate use or failure to comply with the instructions,the manufacturer accepts no responsibility and the guarantee will not apply. · Do not leave the appliance within reach of children without supervision. Young children or disabled persons must always be supervised when using this appliance . · Before plugging in the appliance, check that the voltage shown on the appliance matches your electrical system's voltage, and check that the wall socket is earthed. The warranty will be deemed void in the event of an electrical connection error. · Your appliance is intended solely for domestic, indoor use . · Unplug the appliance as soon as you have finished using it and when you clean it. · Do not use the appliance if it is not working properly or if it has been damaged.Instead, contact an approved service centre. · All maintenance other than normal cleaning and care by the customer should be entrusted to an approved service centre. · Do not use the appliance if the power cord or the plug are damaged. Never put the jug in the oven. · Do not add water to the appliance while it is still hot. · Always keep the lid (a) closed while the coffee maker is operating. · All appliances are subject to stringent quality control procedures. These include "actual use" tests on randomly-selected appliances (accounting for any signs of use). On models supplied with an insulated flask: · Never place the insulated flask in a microwave o ven, dishwasher , cooker hob or oven. · To a void damaging the insulated flask's glass lining, do not insert harsh utensils into it. For the same reason, take care when placing ice cubes or candy sugar in the flask, which should be filled with liquid first. · Never put your hand inside the insulated coffee jug. sumatra_gb.qxd 18/01/05 11:44 Page 9 s FIRST USE · The first time you use your new coffee maker, run the appliance once with 1 litre of water but no coffee, to flush the water circuit. s MAKING COFFEE (as shown in illustrations 1 - 4) · Place the coffee maker on a flat, stable, heat-resistant surface. · Only use cold water and No. 4 filter paper. Do not use the jug without its lid. · Do not exceed the maximum water level shown on the tank's water level gauge. · Close the lid (a) while the coffee maker is operating. · This coffee maker is fitted with a drip-stop device, allowing you to serve coffee before the water has finished percolating.Replace the jug quickly to avoid any overflow. · You can reheat coffee by placing the jug (depending on model) in the microwave. On models equipped with a permanent filter: O · Place ground coffee directly into the permanent filter . Dispose of the coffee grounds after use and rinse the filter under the tap. Some models are equipped with a jug with a Thermocontrol indicator: · This device indicates whether the coffee inside the jug is at a suitable temperature for drinking. · This is shown by an indicator located on the jug's protective collar. · If the indicator is red, the coffee in the jug is at a suitable temperature for drinking. · If the indicator is black, the coffee in the jug is too cold. Some models are supplied with an insulated flask: · To keep your coffee warm for longer, rinse the insulated flask with hot water before use. · Always screw down the lid fully (by turning it clockwise) when making coffee and keeping it warm. · To serve the coffee, unscrew the lid a quarter-turn. s PROGRAMMING YOUR COFFEE MAKER (depending on model) When you switch the coffee maker on, the time display flashes and reads ; the cup and clock symbols are on steady. Setting the clock or changing the current time: · Press and hold (>2 seconds) the button.The clock symbol and the time display start flashing. Set the hours by pressing the button repeatedly, or hold it down to cycle continuously through the hours . · Press the button once. The minutes display starts flashing. Set the minutes by pressing the button repeatedly, or hold it down to cycle continuously through the minutes . · Confirm the time: Press the button once. The clock symbol disappears (if you do not confirm by pressing this button within 30 seconds, the appliance cancels the changes and reverts to the existing time). Manual operation (Start/Stop): · Press the © START button once;the LED (l) lights up. · Press the © STOP button once;the LED (l) goes out. · Operating the coffee maker manually cancels any automatic start that may have been programmed. Programming the coffee maker to start automatically (not possible until the clock has been set): · Press the button once . The cup and the hours display starts flashing. Set the hours by pressing the button repeatedly, or hold it down to cycle continuously through the hours . · Press the button once. The minutes display starts flashing. sumatra_gb.qxd 18/01/05 11:44 Page 10 Set the minutes by pressing the button repeatedly, or hold it down to cycle continuously through the minutes . · Confirm the time by pressing the button once. The cup symbol stops flashing to indicate that an automatic start has been set (if you do not confirm by pressing the button within 30 seconds, the appliance cancels the changes and reverts to the existing time). You can pause and resume the coffee-making cycle at any time by pressing the start/stop button.If you do not stop the coffee maker manually, it will stop heating automatically two hours after it is started on models with a conventional jug, and after 15 minutes on models with an insulated flask. Cancelling a programmed start: · Press the button once. The cup symbol disappears. · To confirm a new automatic start, press the button once;the cup symbol reappears. Note: You must always confirm by pressing the button whenever you program a new automatic start. Displaying the programmed start time: · Press the button once. The automatic start time is displayed. · The display reverts to the current time after 30 seconds. s CLEANING · To dispose of the used coffee grounds, remove the filter holder (f) from the coffee maker. · Unplug the appliance. · Do not clean the appliance while it is hot. · Clean with a damp cloth or sponge . · Never place the appliance in water or under running water. · The jug, the jug lid and the filter holder can be washed in the dishwasher. s DESCALING · It is important to descale your coffee maker e very 40 cycles. You can use: · either one sachet of coffee maker descaler, diluted in 2 large cups of water. · or 2 large cups of white vinegar . · Pour into the tank (b) and run the coffee maker (with no coffee). · Allow the equivalent of one cup to run through into the jug or insulated flask (c), then stop the appliance . · Leave the descaling product to work for one hour. · Restart the coffee maker to complete the cycle . · Rinse the coffee maker by running 2 or 3 cycles with 1 litre of water. The warranty does not cover coffee makers that malfunction or cease to operate because they have not been regularly descaled. s ACCESSORIES Accessories are available from any good specialist store. · Glass jug with Thermocontrol indicator ref. Hvis kaffemaskinen er udstyret med en termokande (afhængig af model): · Stil aldrig termokanden ind i en mikrobølgeovn, i opvaskemaskine eller på en kogeplade. · For at undgå at beskadige glasindsatsen i termokanden må der aldrig f øres aggressive redskaber ind i den.Isterninger eller kandis må kun tilsættes forsigtigt i kanden, når der på forhånd er fyldt væske i den. · Stik ikke hånden ned i termokanden. sumatra_dan.qxd 18/01/05 11:45 Page 13 s FØR FØRSTE IBRUGTAGNING · Før kaffemaskinen tages i brug første gang, skal den skylles igennem ved at hælde 1 liter vand i vandbeholderen og starte kaffebrygningsprogrammet uden kaffe. s KAFFEBRYGNING (følg illustrationerne fra 1 til 4) · Brug kun koldt vand og kaffefilter nr.4.Brug ikke kanden uden låg. · Vandbeholderen må ikke fyldes op over mærket for maksimal vandpåfyldning. · Luk låget (a),når kaffemaskinen fungerer. · Denne kaffemaskine er har et drypstop system, der gør det muligt at skænke kaffe under kaffebrygningen. Stil hurtigt kanden tilbage i kaffemaskinen for at undgå, at filtret løber over. · Man kan genopvarme kaffen ved at stille kanden i mikrobølgeovn.
