Power supply The tool should be connected only to a power supply of the same voltage as indicated on the nameplate, and can be operated on single-phase AC/DC supply. They are double-insulated in accordance with European Standard and can, therefore, also be used from sockets without earth wire. For public low-voltage distribution systems of between 220 V and 250 V Switching operations of electric apparatus cause voltage fluctuations. The operation of this device under unfavorable mains conditions can have adverse effects to the operation of other equipment. With a mains impedance equal or less than 0.43 Ohms it can be presumed that there will be no negative effects. The mains socket used for this device must be protected with a fuse or protective circuit breaker having slow tripping characteristics. Safety hints For your own safety, please refer to the enclosed safety instructions. 5. Always be sure you have a firm footing. Be sure no one is below when using the tool in high locations. 6. Hold the tool firmly with both hands. 7. Keep hands away from moving parts. 8. Do not leave the tool running. Operate the tool only when hand-held. 9. Do not point the tool at any one in the area when operating. The bit could fly out and injure someone seriously. 10. When chipping into walls, floors or wherever "live" electrical wires may be encountered, DO NOT TOUCH ANY METAL PARTS OF THE TOOL! Hold the tool by the insulated grasping surfaces to prevent electric shock if you chip into a "live" wire. 11. Do not touch the bit or parts close to the bit immediately after operation; they may be extremely hot and could burn your skin. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS. OPERATING INSTRUCTIONS Installing or removing bull point or other bits (cold chisel, etc.) (Fig. 1 & 2) Important: Always be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged before installing or removing the bit. Pull out and turn the tool retainer so that the boss on the tool retainer faces in the direction of the arrow. Insert the bit into the tool holder as far as it will go. Then pull out and turn the tool retainer 180 degrees to secure the bit. To remove the bit, follow the installation procedures in reverse. ADDITIONAL SAFETY RULES 1. Wear a hard hat (safety helmet), safety glasses and/or face shield. It is also highly recommended that you wear a dust mask, ear protectors and thickly padded gloves. 2. Be sure the bit is secured in place before operation. 3. Under normal operation, the tool is designed to produce vibration. The screws can come loose easily, causing a breakdown or accident. Check tightness of screws carefully before operation. 4. In cold weather or when the tool has not been used for a long time, let the tool warm up for several minutes by operating it under no load. This will loosen up the lubrication. Without proper warm-up, hammering operation is difficult. Side handle (auxiliary handle) (Fig. 3) The side handle can be secured in any position. Loosen the nut and swing the side handle to the desired position. Then tighten the nut firmly to secure the side handle. If the set bolt turns together with the nut when you turn the nut, set the set bolt so that the projecting portion of the side handle is fitted into the notch in the bolt head. 4 Switch action (Fig. 4) CAUTION: · Before plugging in the tool, always check to see that the switch trigger actuates properly and returns to the "OFF" position when released. · Do not tape, tie or otherwise secure the trigger in the "ON" position. To start the tool, simply pull the trigger. Release the trigger to stop. MAINTENANCE CAUTION: Always be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged before carrying out any work on the tool. Replacement of carbon brushes (Fig. 5 & 6) Whenever carbon brushes must be replaced, they cut out the tool automatically. When this occurs, remove the holder cap plates and then replace both carbon brushes at the same time. Use only identical carbon brushes. Chipping / Scaling / Demolition Hold the tool firmly with both hands. Turn the tool on and apply slight pressure on the tool so that the tool will not bounce around, uncontrolled. Pressing very hard on the tool will not increase the efficiency. Lubrication (Fig. 7 & 8) This tool requires no hourly or daily lubrication because it has a grease-packed lubrication system. Lubricate the tool every time the carbon brushes are replaced. First, switch off and unplug the tool. Remove the plate 50 using a screwdriver, then replenish with fresh grease (60 g). Use only Makita genuine grease (optional accessory). Filling with more than the specified amount of grease (approx. 60 g) can cause faulty hammering action or tool failure. Fill only with the specified amount of grease. Reinstall plate 50 and secure with the screws. Les vis peuvent donc se relacher, ce qui peut provoquer une ^ panne ou un accident. En conséquence, avant le travail, vérifiez toujours soigneusement qu'elles sont serrées à fond. 4. Par temps froid ou si l'outil n'a pas été utilisé pendant longtemps, il est recommandé de le faire fonctionnement à vide pendant quelques minutes, le temps d'assurer une bonne répartition du lubrifiant. Si l'outil est sollicité à froid, son rendement sera médiocre. 5. Veillez toujours à avoir un bon équilibre. Vérifiez qu'il n'y a personne en-dessous de vous si vous travaillez en hauteur. 6. Tenez l'outil fermement des deux mains. 7. N'approchez pas les mains des pièces en mouvement. 8. N'abandonnez pas l'outil en marche : il ne doit fonctionnner que lorsque vous l'avez en main. 9. Quand vous travaillez, ne dirigez jamais l'outil vers quelqu'un. Le burin pourrait se détacher et provoquer de graves blessures. 10. Prudence avec les parois (sol, mur) susceptibles de dissimuler des cables électriques sous tension, NE TOUCHEZ AUCUNE DES PIECES METALLIQUES DE L'OUTIL ! Tenez l'outil uniquement par ses sections de prise isolées pour éviter tout choc électrique au cas ou l'outil toucherait un fil sous tension. ` 11. Ne touchez pas le foret ni les parties de l'outil toutes proches tout de suite après une opération de forage ; ils pourraient être extrêmement chauds et vous brûler. CONSERVEZ CES INSTRUCTIONS. MODE D'EMPLOI Montage d'un burin ou d'une pointe à béton (Fig. 1 et 2) Important : L'installation et la dépose d'un burin doivent toujours être effectués l'outil à l'arrêt et débranché. Pour pouvoir faire pivoter le verrouillage, il est néccessaire d'exercer une traction en comprimant le resort. Pour pouvoir engager un accessoire (burin, pointe) le méplat qui comporte un cercle en saillie doit être orienté parallélement à l'acessoire. Une fois la queue de l'accessoire engagée à fond dans le porte-outil, faites effectuer un demi tour au verrouillage, pour immobiliser l'accessoire en place. Procédez de même pour retirer un accessoire. CONSIGNES DE SECURITE SUPPLEMENTAIRES 1. Portez un casque des lunettes de sécurité (ou tout dispositif de protection analogue). Par ailleurs, il est vivement recommandé de porter un masque de protection contre la poussière, des protections pour les oreilles ainsi que de gros gants rembourrés. 2.
